Questionnaire on Moodle

I created a questionnaire on Survey Monkey to be distributed to various students around the Fade building completing different types of media and design courses. Within this survey I wanted to find out if these students use the Moodle page often or not and for what reasons. This is due to hand in's  of work being submitted physically on a disk instead through Moodle as the website is not capable of uploading and saving large file formats.

Below is the link of my questionnaire, you will not be able to see the document as it has now been closed:

Ethics and privacy of data is an important factor with any form of research and case study therefore I created a introduction form stating the intent and purpose of the research. Within the introduction form I added a disclosure form

Non-Disclosure form:

Introduction to the Research:
Good Morning/Afternoon,
My name is Roxanne Martos and I am a 3rd year student at Swansea Metropolitan University.
I am carrying out research into creating a Moodle directed for media students where they can upload content

I would like to find if media students use Moodle often and for what purposes
The questionnaire consists of 7 questions.
This questionnaire is only for research purposes it will not be used or distributed to any other organisation/research study. We will not identify you or your personal details the results of this study are anonymous.
Thank you for your participation

Results
Below are the results of my questionnaire, I left it open online for 24 hours in order to allow students to complete within their own time. I decided to use the website www.surveymonkey.com as it is easy to set up and distribute a questionnaire with the link the website provides me with. This means I can share the URL with the target audience and it being less of a chance of others to take part who are not my target audience.

Within the first question I wanted to find out the level of education the participants were at only to see if there was a correlation within the end results.

I left the second question open for students to write their degree course, I took all the responses and put them on a bar chart. As you can see from the results a variety of students took part from 4 different courses.

Most of the participants were male although this was a foreseen chance as the courses tend to be male driven.

I felt that gathering age ranges would be effective in seeing if there was a correlation between answers depending on the individuals age. The questionnaire started from the age of 18 as that is the minimum age of a university student, it then continues further as there are mature students within the university that need to be taken into account. From the results gathered most students who took part were aged between 18-25.

There was a variety of choices pick here participants were able to choose two instead of just one. When gathering the results one student had not selected one of the fields as neither applied to themselves, instead they provided me with a comment. Here they stated that they only use the system when it is necessary as not all media projects are handed through Turnitin. This brought my attention to the importance of producing a multifunctional website that caters for these projects and therefore attracting more traffic to the system.

Following the previous question I wanted to find out how often Moodle is used by FADE students. Here there was a mixture of responses within the following question, it seems that students mainly use the system on a weekly basis probably to access any information that has been gathered during the week. I have added an extra column at the end because one student did not select one instead they left a comment as none of the options were suited. This brought to my attention that possibly the reason why most students selected weekly within the survey field was only because it was the in-between option provided.

Finding out how appropriate the system is for these students is also vital even though the previous answers state that there is a need for some other form of implementation. The majority of the participants do not find Moodle appropriate for the files they work on therefore developing a system that supports this would be ideal.

Now that I have gathered results it is vital that a system catered for their work should be implemented. The next step is to research and find out file formats and sizes that these student use for projects and everyday work. This information will help me research forms of how to build a system to cater for this demand and also make me aware of restrictions and constraints.
